Hiperbaric, the world leader in high-pressure technology from Burgos, has just opened registrations to participate in the 12th edition of the Hiperbaric Challenge, the initiative that seeks to awaken technological and scientific vocations among students aged 13 to 17 with the design and construction of an inertia car prototype. Young people in the 3rd and 4th years of ESO, Baccalaureate and Basic, Intermediate and Higher Level Training Cycles from all over Spain have until November 8 to submit their candidacy.
The challenge challenges students to develop their creativity with the design, construction and prototyping of an inertia car, in accordance with the requirements established by the Inertia Sports Federation (FDI) for this type of vehicle.
lThe program consists of developing a global project and a feasibility plan in which participants address technical and technological issues, as well as aspects related to marketing, economic and equipment management. Enrolled students will participate in teams, supervised and guided by a tutor and mentors, with the tutor being responsible for guiding the group towards the achievement of the final objective and its representative for administrative purposes.
Hiperbaric provides tutors and students with the tools to develop the project, both at a training level, with meetings and mentoring, and logistically, with a basic kit consisting of the bodywork and wheels with tires and rims for each of the teams.
The students will have to present their project before a jury of experts and test their designs in a real competition, scoring for the Spanish Championship and endorsed by the FDI.
The race, with an urban layout, will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025 in the capital of Burgos, and the project defense will be held the day before the competition at the facilities of the company Hiperbaric, a world leader in the manufacture of high-pressure equipment. “Of all the applications submitted, up to 20 teams will finally compete. Last year, more than 300 students from different Spanish provinces participated”, explains Andrés Hernando, CEO of Hiperbaric.
In the last edition, IES Virgen de la Paloma, from Madrid, with the representation of its team “Los Palomos”, was the winner.
